Biomass for Electricity
Electricity is generated from biomass in a similar way that electricity is generated from coal and natural gas. The storage container, feeding system and combustion chamber are required to be specifically
designed for the type of biomass that is being used but the principals behind electricity generation remains the same.
Electricity How it Works
Biomass is fed into the combustion chamber and burned to create heat (hot air). The hot air heats the water until it boils, creating steam. The pressure of the steam forces it to expand out of the boiler and is directed to a turbine, which turns the blades. The action turns a shaft, which is attached to the blades. The rotating turbine turns a copper armature inside the generator, resulting in an electric current, or electricity.
