Megan Smith
Project Manager
Megan has been involved in the natural resource management field since 2001. Upon graduating from Lakehead University with a Forestry degree (HBScF) and a certificate in Environmental Assessment, she began her career with the Forestry Research Partnership (FRP) in Mattawa as an Extension Forester. After working on the technology transfer side of things at the FRP, Megan decided she wanted to dig in and get her hands dirty (literally) by working on research projects in the field.
In 2004, she started with the Southern Science & Information Section of the Ministry of Natural Resources in North Bay and spent her time working on research projects related to vegetation management and growth & yield (logging damage, skid trail impacts).
In December 2010, Megan decided to combine her two passions, R&D and communications, and moved to the Biomass Innovation Centre at Nipissing University where she is the Centre’s Project Manager.
Victoria Jamieson-McCaskill
Graphic Design/Communication Specialist
Victoria began her graphic design career in 2007 at Canadore College. Graduating from the three-year program in 2010 at the top of her class she began by doing freelance design work and theater set painting. After sampling various jobs in the graphic arts Victoria decided to seek out greater challenges and pursue her love of learning. Throughout 2011 she did volunteer work as a graphic designer at Call Edge Practice Firm and gained photography experience and training in a local photo studio. In the summer of 2011 Victoria landed a dream position in the communications internship at the BIC, and continues to enjoy the learning and growth that go hand in hand with the job. In her spare time Victoria still takes on freelance work and enjoys spending time practicing art and photography.
